Tree health #872034

Asked June 07, 2024, 11:04 AM EDT

I have 3 tall evergreen trees and I am concerned about their health. The back and in between have lost much of the greenery leaving only dead branches. I wanted to know if you have someone who could visit me for a consult? If so, how do you charge? If you don't have anyone to visit, do you know of someone who might be able to help? We live in Arvada. Thank you! Debra Schneider

Expert Response

Hi Debra -

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner - things are getting busy around here.

In the past we have not done visits for trees, however I will ask if this is something our Horticultural Specialist is able to do.  In the meantime:

Please send a couple of photos:
  • a wide shot showing all three trees (if possible, or as much as possible)
  • a closeup of a dead area, and a closeup of a spot where the dead area meets a healthy area
  • a closeup of a healthy branch.
And a couple of questions:
  • how old are the trees?
  • any idea what kind of trees they are?
  • do you water the trees regularly?
  • any signs of insects, oozing, bark damage, etc. - anything else that might be related?
  • are the trees dying from the outside branches inward, or from the inside outward?  similarly, are they dying from the top down or bottom up?
Thank you -
