Tree of Heaven identification and eradication #872021

Asked June 07, 2024, 10:23 AM EDT

I've looked at photos of Tree of Heaven, but I'm not sure I can identify them. Can someone come to my property and help me discover if I have any and if so, how to get rid of them safely? Thank you.

The old saying about tree of heaven is when you cut one down 100's attended the funeral. The way to ID the tree is to look at the central stem. If the leaves grow opposite of each other then it is the Tree of heaven. The bark looks like a cantaloupe and the tree has an odor like cat urine when cut.
You might contact your local OSU horticulture center io see if they have someone to ID the tree on your property. I will repeat, look at the control stem of the branch and if you have leaves growing opposite of each other you probably have Tree of heaven.
