Paperbark Birch tree borers #871960

We have paperbark birches that we believe have borers. The leaves on some branches die, leaving a larger dead limb. These trees were beautiful, but after the ice storm of 2020, the trees during the next spring, had dead branches. We did loose 3 full trees in a season, that we removed. The rest of the trees have some that are healthy and some that have dead parts of the tree. We have trimmed off the dead parts as the season progresses. A neighbor, who is a landscaper, mentioned that we can treat most of our trees by injecting a systemic insecticide. What type of systemic should we inject?
Marion County Oregon

Please take a look at the OSU publication, "Homeowner Guide to Managing Bronze Birch Borer." It will give you a lot of information.
There are different systemic insecticides available to home gardeners versus hiring a tree care company to make the application.
If you are making the application yourself, look for products containing the active ingredient imidacloprid or dinotefuran. Always read and follow the label for safety and use instructions.
Best of luck!
