Are they Irises #871886

Please identify these plants. Are they Iris? If so, what kind of Iris they are? The former owners planted them, so I don’t know. I tried to look for those Iris rhizomes, but I didn’t see. Perhaps, they planted too deep, or they planted grow from bulbs. I’ll dig a lil deeper, but I’m afraid I’ll damage them. Please help me. Thank you very much.

Although the foliage is hard to ID with certainty by itself, the seed pods present do suggest Iris, as they do not match the shape of seed pods produced by other plants whose foliage closely resembles Iris.
