Hello,
The Spartan Juniper (Juniperus chinensis ‘Spartan’) is a fantastic choice for creating a privacy screen. Keep in mind: The root flair of a mature Juniperus chinensis ‘Spartan’ (Spartan Chinese Juniper) generally stays within 3 to 4 feet wide. This evergreen tree grows into a narrow cone or columnar shape, reaching a height of 15 to 25 feet and a spread of 4 to 8 feet. It has bright green foliage and is well-suited for creating privacy screens or planting near power lines.

Here are the guidelines for planting them:
Distance from the Septic Drain Field:
If you’re planting Spartan Junipers near a septic drain field, it’s essential to maintain a safe distance. Plant them at least five feet away from the drain field to avoid any interference with the septic system.
Distance from the Septic Tank:
Similarly, when planting near a septic tank, maintain a safe distance. Plant Spartan Junipers at least five feet away from the septic tank to prevent root intrusion into the tank area.
Spacing Between Plants:
If you’re creating a privacy screen with two offset rows of Spartan Junipers, space them approximately four feet apart within each row. Another option is to plant two rows three feet apart from each other, staggering the junipers every four feet.
Remember, Spartan Junipers are hardy, low-maintenance evergreens that quickly grow into lush screens.
