There is a natural lilac tree that gets taller like a normal tree. If it was a dwarf lilac tree (meaning it only got about 8 feet tall at full growth) then chances are it was grafted into an ash tree. The growth you are seeing is more likely an ash. If you want to take a picture and send it back to me I can be sure. I am guessing that you no longer have an ornamental lilac tree.

I honestly don’t know if it will bloom. Sometimes a new lilac bush can take a couple of years to bloom. I think only time will tell.
