Should I cut down a silver maple tree in front yard #871799

Asked June 05, 2024, 6:47 PM EDT

I have a large silver maple tree in my front yard that has grown quite large.. it is 30 years old. The roots stick up through the grass. I’m wondering if the roots can spread to my house foundation and if I should cut it down at this point and replant another tree? It also doesn’t not look too healthy. The trunk size is fairly large.. debating to cut down or trim. Please advise.. thank you !

Hello Maureen,

Thanks for your inquiry.  There are many factors that need to be considered, some of which you've clearly identified. We'd recommend having this discussion with a certified arborist. They'll be able to assess the site, health of the tree, and make an appropriate recommendation.
