Wormwood plant #871755

Asked June 05, 2024, 3:37 PM EDT

I believe that I have a volunteer Woodworm plant in my flower garden. Is this a noxious weed or a plant that can be in my garden? Should I take it out?

Clay County Minnesota

Thanks for the question.

Good ID on your part. This is Common Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). Here is some information on it:

https://www.minnesotawildflowers.info/flower/absinthium - :~:text=A weedy species, Absinthium was, care much about it now.

http://www.minnesotaseasons.com/Plants/absinthe_wormwood.html

In the following site, it is not listed as a noxious plant in Clay County but is so listed in other counties:

https://www.mda.state.mn.us/plants/pestmanagement/weedcontrol/noxiouslist/countynoxiousweeds

https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/60350-Artemisia-absinthium

After reading through these sites, it will be your decision whether to keep it or dig it up. Good Luck. Thanks for consulting us
