Expert Response
It is possible your tree is suffering from anthracnose. You will have to clean up and destroy any and all leaves as they fall.
You can try spraying your with a copper-based fungicide. It will not cure any infected leaves but may stop further spread. Early next spring you will need to spray again as green tip. Read the label on the product you purchase. Ask for help in selecting a product at your locally owned full service garden center. https://www.almanac.com/pest/anthracnose
