My poor Juniper/Serviceberry tree. #871610

Asked June 04, 2024, 7:53 PM EDT

My Serviceberry trees main branches started dying this Spring. I removed 4 large branches and dug it out to give the rootball some air and drying but am not sure how to move forward. Any help would be appreciated.

I am confused as to why you would dig out the rootball of a mature tree.  From the size of the truck, it obviously has been in the ground for a while.  You wanted the roots to dry out???  I need more information.  Was water sitting there on top for a long time or??

My son dug out the rootball a few days ago. He must have read something online. We removed a cement tree ring from around the tree and he thought it would help to remove some of the wet dirt. It is mature but I don’t know how old. It looked healthy up until the Spring when we noticed all the leaves on some of the branched had died. I removed the dead branches. Just looking for anything I might be able to do to help the tree. Thank you. Jack.
