Tall Grass Complaints in Baltimore County #871495

Asked June 04, 2024, 11:01 AM EDT

Hi, I am a recent home buyer wishing to replace the traditional lawn with native plant species that will promote local wildlife and healthy bay waters. My home located directly along a bay tributary and has a conservation easement. Unfortunately, I have been getting frequent "Tall Grass" complaints to the county inspectors. If I was able to get my lawn Bay-Wise certified would this be something the County Inspectors could use to push back on the frequent tall grass complaints on my property? I have spoken to the county inspector and they understand my issue and really don't want to be citing properties like mine. They have better things to do ;-) Thanks

Hi Justin,

I don't know for sure if getting Bay-Wise certified will help with the complaints but it could. I think having signage does help neighbors understand why someone's yard may look "wild." To get certified, please fill out the Bay-Wise yardstick and email it to <personal data hidden>. Please let us know if that does help. It would be great evidence for our program.

Best,

Kaitlyn
