Transplanting a sweetspire shrub #871476

Asked June 04, 2024, 10:14 AM EDT

We just transplanted a sweetspire shrub because it needs more sun and has gotten gangly. It is 17 years old, still flowers slightly, and we are asking if it needs to be trimmed at all.

Hello -
From your description, it sounds as if it needs some trimming.  I can't tell for sure without a photo, however.  Has it flowered this year?  After flowering or in early spring is generally the best time to trim up your shrubs.
Good luck,
