Pepper plant leaves has brown spits #871474

Asked June 04, 2024, 10:11 AM EDT

Grew pepper plants from seed. Planted them 5/15 in garden. Fertilized last week with 5-4-3. One plant out of 4 looks very stressed with brown spots. The other 3 plants look good but do have a leaf or two with spots.

Thanks for your question.

The spots could be caused by pest damage.  Have you looked closely to see if there are any insects?  If so, use a neem oil or soap to remove them.

They could also be caused by bacterium, anthracnose or bacterial end rot.  If one of these is causing the problem, you could use a fungicide  (such as a fixed copper organic fungicide)  or bactericide. If you do, you must follow the directions exactly.

Also space your plants farther away from each other, avoid overwatering and do not water the foliage of the plants - water at the soil level.  Humidity makes these issues worse.

Other advice is to mulch well. Cut off affected areas.  Also rotate crops every year.
