In the middle of Fairbanks, we found an iridescent green insect. Never seen anything like it. A google search came up with Emerald Ash Borer, but that seems impossible. It is still alive in a cup with a lid on it.

I can't tell what it is for sure from the photo. If you want to bring the specimen to our office I would be happy have one of our entomologists identify it. Put the insect in a sealed container in the freezer for 24 hours. Then bring the sealed container over to my office at the University Park Bldg at 1000 University Ave. My office number is 104. If I am not here go ahead and the leave the specimen in the drawer of the metal desk in the hallway outside my office. There are intake forms there for you to fill out so I know who to follow up with. Thanks!
