Any idea what kind of insect is this?

That is a beetle (Order Coleoptera) in the family scarabaeidae. That particular beetle is one that we would call a bumble flower beetle. The species I can't be certain of, but they are common on flowers in the summertime. They are not pests and I would not be concerned about them.
