Is there a place to find out more about the Native Plant Conservation Programs? #871311

Asked June 03, 2024, 1:09 PM EDT

We recently purchased a property in Polk County. Although its beautiful we would like to utilize it to its best potential for restoring and enhancing it own unique prairie as well as wetland ecosystems. Can you point us in the right direction to do this?

Hello Rebecca,

This is Todd Anderson with OSU small farms, to better assist with more specific materials I think a more Indepth conversation on your property and goals (for instance are you looking for more native landscaping plants, restoring a riparian area bordering a pasture or horticulture operation, wanting to do oak savannah restoration and planting or looking to manage a woodlot) would be helpful.

In the meantime, I believe Polk County Soil and Water Conservation and the USDA NRCS would be helpful, along with the attached link from extension on native plants.

After we talk, I might be able to connect you with what you are looking for.

OSU Extension native plant gardening (may be helpful depending on the size of your property and putting together plant lists)
