Black sunken dots on honeycrisp apples #871307
Asked June 03, 2024, 1:02 PM EDT
I have two Honeycrisp and one Frostbite apple tree. They all flowered nicely and I have a number of apples growing on each tree. I've noticed that quite a few of the apples on the two Honeycrisp trees have small, black, sometimes sunken specs on them. I'm concerned this is going to significantly impact my production and would like to determine the cause and spray as soon as possible. Could this possibly be Apple Curculio?

Expert Response
Yes, the spots are probably evidence of plum and/or apple curculio damage.
