What’s eating my hibiscus? #871249
Asked June 03, 2024, 9:53 AM EDT
Good morning,
The volunteer educators gave me this email as I’m trying to figure out what’s eating my hibiscus leaves. It’s both lady and lord Baltimore leaves but especially the lord Baltimore. Please see pictures attached. There last pic has the bugs on them but not sure if that’s the issue. Some leaves are also a bit brown/yellow.
Anne Arundel County Maryland
Expert Response
The chewing was done by wormy-looking things on the leaf in the upper part of your first photo, which is the larvae of a sawfly. The insects in your third are the adult form.
