Something is killing our maple trees #871210
Asked June 02, 2024, 9:15 PM EDT
We have 4 maples, about 20 years old in our backyard. The past 3 years something has been attacking them. The trees used to change a beautiful red during fall. Not anymore. They bleed and loose bark during winter. I have treated the trees with Ferti-lome tree and shrub drench every spring for the past 3 years. The trees continue to decline. Please help! Also, I am pretty sure the bug killed a new rose bush I planted. It was flowering and healthy last summer. Now it is dead with holes bored through the stems.

Hello, Kelly,
Thank you for writing to CSU Extension with questions about your maple trees. The photos were very helpful.
We see a number of things that lead us to recommending, as the next step, that you contact an arborist for a definitive diagnosis. While we can't recommend who you should contact, we do recommend that you go to the website for the International Society of Arboriculture for your search.
The website is http://www.isa-arbor.com; you can also contact them via email at isa-arbor.com.
