While at Van Atta's recently, we heard someone talking about their boxwood dying. We mentioned the same with ours, some kind of spider/webs seem to be killing them. We were told to report it to MSU Extension, so that's what I'm doing.

You're likely referring to box tree moth. Ingham county is within the quarantined area for this invasive species. Here is the link to report suspected cases of the insect to MDARD: https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/ors/Survey/39. MDARD is keeping track of their populations in the state.
