Oak tree dying #871098

Asked June 01, 2024, 7:39 PM EDT

My oak tree in Minnetonka looked healthy 2 years ago, had one main dead branch last year, and now about 3/4 of the main branches have died. Is it oak wilt or something else?

Expert Response

I can see the decline of your oak in the photos. There are insects and disease that can impact the health of an oak.  With the size of the tree I would recommend bringing in a professional. Contact a local tree care company and ask that an arborist come to evaluate. They will be able to see the bark, branches, leaves up close to determine what may be going on. In addition, they can give you options for any needed treatments.
