Wild Grapevine #871074

Asked June 01, 2024, 3:49 PM EDT

I have wild grapevine growing on a fence. I would like to take cuttings to make more plants. How is this done for optimal success?

Expert Response

It is not normally recommended that wild grape vines be propagated because they are so invasive.  But, if you really want more, you can take a cutting from the center of the vine and using rooting hormones and putting the cutting in vermiculite and keeping them moist.  Seeds also will sprout with warmth and moisture.  Make sure to prune your wild vines or they will take over.  Good luck.
