We lost trees so many shade plants are in the sun. They are doing okay so far this year because of all the rain and not too much heat. Last year...not so good. But can I transplant in early June? ferns soloman's seal astillbe hostas Also, can I split and move some sun plants into that area? Russian sage Golden Alexander ornamental grasses butterfly weed Thanks for your help!

You should transplant ferns, Solomon’s seal, Astilbe, and hostas in early spring. Although it is a bit past that time, you still should be able to transplant them. See:

Splitting and moving Russian sage and butterfly weed are very difficult because of their long tap roots. Better to leave them where they are or start them from seed. See:
