Miss Kim Lilac #870958

Looking for recommendations on how much of the lilac we can prune back without hurting the plant. Would like to keep them in a globe appearance but at a much smaller size if possible.

Expert Response

Hi Robert,

The best time to prune those is right after flowering or when the plants are dormant . Prune out the older wood first. I wouldn't prune off more than one third of growth.

Good luck,
