maple tree pruning #870956

Asked May 31, 2024, 1:34 PM EDT

Hi, is it an ok time to trim 2-3 small branches from a maple tree? A few are hanging lower over our driveway and i don't want the car to grab and rip them off, cuasing more damage. i know due to oak wilt, you only want to trim in the very late fall or winter, i am not sure about maples. thanks

Thank you for reaching out to ask2.extension.

It is best to trim trees in late winter to early fall.  I think you will be ok if you trim them, especially if they’re in the way.  If it can wait until next spring, go ahead and trim them.
