Peach tree leaves have bumps? Tree is young and looks sick #870873

I have included pictures of something hurting my peach tree. What is it and how do I treat it? We have pets so need a safe method if at all possible thank you for your knowledge and time

Dear Terri,

Thank you for contacting us. I cannot be sure from the photos, but it looks as though your tree may have a fungal disease known as peach leaf curl. I suggest you take a sample to your county Extension office for closer inspection.

The best defense against this disease is to plant cultivars that are resistant to the disease. It is possible to spray with fungicides, but this must be done in late autumn and again just before flowering. Good garden sanitation is also important, so try to rake up any fallen leaves or debris and place them in the trash (not the compost).
