How can I treat cutworms without toxic pesticides? #870845

How do I get rid of cutworm caterpillars without pesticides. I'm concerned about my dog and birds.

Thank you for your question. 

CSU does suggest a biological treatment for cutworms. 

From the attached fact sheet: "...a species of entomopathogenic nematode, Steinernema carpocapsae can be applied to lawns in the early morning or evening as an alternative to chemical control. Several applications may be needed, however, and grass should be irrigated before and after the application to facilitate movement of the nematodes into the thatch layer."

Read and follow the instructions when applying the nematode product. 

CSU does not determine toxicity. Please contact your vet to see if this product has any toxicity for dogs or birds.
