Pesticides and Insecticides allowed #870826

Asked May 30, 2024, 5:02 PM EDT

I would like to relocate my beehives from my home in Gypsum to my property in Ridgway , CO. My property is on County Road 23 and I wondered if there are any ordinances against using pesticides or insecticides in this area I want my hives to thrive and not battle poisons. Thank you very much for your help.

I would contact Ouray County Vegetation Management to find out if the road is treated with herbicides.

I don't know why they would apply insecticides to the roadsides, but they might be able to answer that as well.
You could also double check by contacting Ouray County Road and Bridge Department

Ridgway has a community apiary.  It is located next to the community garden on Greene Street, near the High School.  If you would like the contact information for the apiary, let me know.
