Creation of a wildlife & native plant area #870778

Good Afternoon, I am a resident in Coopersville (Ottawa County). There is a vacant piece of land that I would like to speak with City Officials about turning into a bug and wildlife project. Specifically, Creating a butterfly & insect highway filled with native plants/landscaping for preservation purposes. Before I speak with them I'm gathering information to present. Is there state funding or grants for a project like this? Would MSU Extension be able to assist in the planning and creation? Is there any information in regards to what would be needed for a project like this? Thank you!
