Expert Response
Hi Greg,
Those trees certainly do not look healthy. They may be suffering from a change in water table that causes them to be growing in too much or too little water.
This is a normal process in wetlands as the hydrology changes - hopefully from natural causes.
If you know who manages the conservation area, you may want to give them a call so they can give the area a closer look.
Thank you,
-Julie
