Have a photo of flylike insect. Seems to be sucking on new leaves and buds. Only found on one variety (Ely) twice now-3 bugs total.

Thank you for contacting the U of M Extension Service.
From viewing your photo, I used my insect app to attempt to identify the insect.
I believe it is a root-maggot fly (anthomyia illocata). Here is a link from bugguide: https://bugguide.net/node/view/600530
