Our crabapple tree was full of beautiful blooms a couple of weeks. In the last week or so, it looks nearly dead. Most of the new leaves are withered & brown or green but covered in brown spots. See attached photo.
Is it dying or having an adverse reaction to all the rain? We are in St. Paul.
Ramsey County Minnesota
Expert Response
Your tree may be infected with apple scab, a common enemy of crabapple trees. Our wet spring may have contributed to this problem. While unsightly, this fungus should not kill your tree, and there are steps you can take to prevent this from happening in the future.
