What do you recommend for a fir or spruce tree that gets no wider than 15 feet? We like the balsam fir and black hills spruce, but it looks like they can get up to 25 or 30 feet wide. Our spot is full sun.

There are many new dwarf varieties and a nursery like Gertens or Bachmans can show you new introductions that are hardy here. Dwarf Alberta Spruce reach 8 ft. but don’t look much like a normal spruce.

There are some columnar varieties that might be right for your spot. Columnar forms can grow too tall for some landscape plans.
