Lawn die-off #870577

Last fall we noticed that some of our grass appeared to have died. I assumed it was damage from local dogs. However, this spring the die-off is spreading into new locations, both along the curb line and deeper into the yard. A turf expert from Rainbow Lawncare came out to the house to diagnose the problem. He ruled out grubs and anything else that he has seen in the past. He suggested that we reach out to the UofM for help since he couldn't figure out what is going on. We also confirmed that the area is getting equal irrigation as the rest of the yard. Any ideas on what is causing the grass to die?
