What is attacking our fruit trees and damaging new leaf growth? #870570

Asked May 29, 2024, 11:32 AM EDT

We have a community garden with adjacent small fruit orchard. Both of our established cherry & apple trees, as well as several of our 1-3 year old plantings (cherry, apricot, apple and pear) are displaying significant leaf damage (mostly tender new growth, but also older leaves), characterized by dark brown, then curling up and drying out. Can't see any obvious invasive pest, or evidence of chomping of leaves, just kind of a "blight" to the leaves. Any idea what's going on, and what we could do to help address the problem? We live in NE Bend near Hollinshead Park and Community Garden. Thanks!

Expert Response

Hi Ed,   Are you able to send me some photos through this portal or to my email address below?  Once I can the type of damage you have on your apple trees I can further assist. I am not aware of this being a major problem this spring, seeing some other symptoms but does not sound like what you are describing.

Thanks
Amy Jo,

Hope all is well with you,
