webbing on pine and spruce trees #870566

We have recently noticed a lot of webbing on the branches of our spruce and pine trees. There are no visible worms or insects, but something is killing the branches on the lower part of the trees. We're trying to figure out what is making these webs and how to control whatever it is that is killing the branches before it spreads any further.
