What is the white stuff on my cucumber plant and how do I get rid of it?

Looking at the photo again it looked to me that it could be leaf scorch from exposure to a hot sun on new leaves. Just a thought. Did you harden the plant by gradually exposing it to the sun over a week? Or was it grown from seed?
