How to eradicate voles which have killed hostas, viburnums, and autumn brilliance tree? I’ve lost too many specimen plants to share my garden with such destructive critters. Traps, smoke bombs, and toxic bait don’t make a dent with multiple vole infestations.

Voles are very common and total prevention is impossible, but general yard sanitation may help keep vole numbers down.
If you go to extension.umn.edu and search for voles, the article will give you ways to cut down on the things voles love and also has some ways to get rid of them.
