What’s Eating My Japanese Maple #870415

Asked May 28, 2024, 12:41 PM EDT

My Japanese Maple starts out great in the spring, but is shredded, brown, and ugly by July. Can you tell what’s eating it? Photo attached. I’ve sprayed it for the typical bugs, but that doesn't seem to change the trajectory.

Have you ever seen any insects? If so a picture of one would be helpful. An arborist may need to take a look.

Is there any damage to the trunk or changes to the ground around the trunk?
