Aster yellow, when can I replant? #870410

Asked May 28, 2024, 12:22 PM EDT

We had aster yellow in our gardens. Over the last 2 years we basically pulled all perennials plants, except hostas still thriving. This year our thyme ground cover all died. Does aster yellow affect this plant? When can I plant in my garden again. How should I treat my garden this year? Thank you

Good Morning Maureen,

This information states:

A practical way to avoid having problems with this disease is to grow plants that are not as susceptible to aster yellows. Verbena, salvia, nicotiana, geranium, cockscomb and impatiens are among the least susceptible plants.

It is a difficult disease to deal with. As the information indicates, good cultural practices, weeding and keeping your garden clean. Plant flowers that are not as susceptible to the disease.

I do not know if it affects creeping thyme.

Good Luck!
