I would like to know if you can identify this grass and whether or not it is invasive. We have found it this year spreading pretty quickly in our newly planted forest. It seems to be choking out some of the trees. It is a soft grass, light green, with purple seed heads. It is very dense. Thank you.

There are a couple of possibilities, however, I can't give a positive ID with only photos. Could you bring a sample to the Marion County Extension office for closer inspection? We will need the entire plant including the root and seedheads if possible.
