Expert Response

Hello Tom,

I see that you submitted a second question about buttercup today and I will follow up with more details in response to that question.

As you have observed, buttercup is in full bloom right now, which is the least effective time to try to treat it with a herbicide.

You can attempt to mow off areas with high pressure to prevent animal exposure. You definitely should rotate animals out of pasture with high buttercup pressure to keep avoid overgrazing which could lead to accidental ingestion of buttercup by hungry animals.

In most cases, animals will avoid consuming buttercup, unless there are no other options of good forage to eat.
