Crabapple Tree Wilting #870349

Asked May 27, 2024, 11:16 PM EDT

Our crabapple tree (we think it is crabapple) is showing signs of leaves with curling, dry edges and some leaves having dark and discolored areas. Is this a sign of disease and can something be done to improve the tree's health? We have not noticed this in the three years we have lived at this location.

Thank you for writing.
That looks horrible.
I am inclined to go with Fire Blight.  https://extension.umn.edu/plant-diseases/fire-blight#environmental-conditions-1766163

Apple scab is one possibility https://extension.umn.edu/plant-diseases/apple-scab
Rust is another

This tree is seriously diseased. Have an arborist see it, confirm diagnose and tell you if treatment is possible.  The U does not recommend specific private contractors but here is how to evaluate them. https://extension.umn.edu/planting-and-growing-guides/how-hire-tree-care-professional
