How can I support my perennials? #870258

Asked May 27, 2024, 11:49 AM EDT

Hi, a number of different perennials in my year old pollinator garden have brown spots w some leaves curling up esp toward tops of plants, see pics. I did see tiny red and black insects on the daisies, not on any others. Maybe 2 issues at play? Any action required to support plants? I prefer not to spray w any chemicals that could affect pollinators.

Expert Response

It looks like 4 lined plant bug damage. They move very fast and it can be hard to see them. They rare do more than cosmetic damage. They are a great nuisance and I hate what they do to my geraniums. Pollinators visit plants that are flowering so it is safe to treat plants that aren’t flowering.

Thank you, Evelyn, that is reassuring. It looked like that from photos but it was unclear.

With gratitude, Julie
