Hello. Found these turtles in my driveway facing opposite directions, but side-by-side just like in the picture. Northern Harford County.
Are they both box turtles?
What were they likely doing?
Other maybe getting a little sun?

They look like Box Turtles, which can have varied shell patterns that are unique to each individual. They may have been mating before you found them. Since we've not experts at turtle ID, though, you can double-check with wildlife biologists at the MD Department of Natural Resources if you prefer.
