Tree of Heaven - Herbicide Application #870075

We currently have a tree of heaven growing beside our house. Previous owners only cut the tree back causing it to sprout onto our neighbor's property. Attached are closer photos and there seems to be multiple root systems growing near the foundation. It seems like physical remove would be impossible at this point. Is glyphosate our best solution? The tree is so tall that at this point I'm worried that surrounding plants would be affected since I believe glyphosate best applied to the leaves. Would cutting the tree down and applying glyphosate to the future sprout leaves help reduce overspray or is there a better method?

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry that you're having to deal with this awful tree!
OSU's Solve Pest Problem website outlines the best options for herbicide application for Tree-of-Heaven. This includes the basal-bark and frill methods. These are used when the tree is too large for a foliar spray.
Herbicides containing glyphosate can be used as well as the active ingredients triclopyr and imazapyr. Always read and follow the label instructions for use and safety directions.
