My rooftop downspout has bees flying around it and there are a number of dead bees on the ground. I think they are either bumble bees or honey bees. Who should I call about removal?

Expert Response
You are welcome to send us a photo of one of the bees (dead is okay, as long as it's intact) and we can identify it for you.
If there is a swarm of honeybees, there are beekeepers available who will collect swarms. You can find a list of them in your area on the Maryland Beekeepers Association website.
For other types of bees, you would have to contact a pest control company. However, we strongly encourage you to have the bees identified first. Bees (and wasps) are valuable as pollinators and the first step in finding an appropriate manament solution is to correctly identify the type of insect. Again, we can help with this if you send us some photos.

This is in reference to #0139979. Attached is a picture of two dead bees from a group near my house. Can you tell me what kind of bees they are so I can get someone to come and take them away. Thanks.
A clearer photo would help, but based on the body shape, they look like honey bees.

Any suggestions on who I can contact to remove them?
While Extension doesn't keep track of specific companies (nor do we recommend particular businesses), as Christa mentioned earlier, there are beekeepers available who will collect swarms or who can remove bees nesting in homes. You can find a list of them in your area on the Maryland Beekeepers Association website.
