poisonous hemlock wood #869946

I just purchased a chair made of hemlock wood a product of China.  Now I'm concerned about hemlock poisoning.  Your help on this matter is appreciated.

Hi Raymond,
I imagine your chair is made of wood. This would come from a hemlock tree, probably Tsuga chinensis. It is not poisonous.
Poison hemlock - the plant that probably killed Socrates - comes from an herbaceous plant known as poison hemlock, Conium maculatum.
