Expert Response

Good evening and thank you for reaching out.  We will need a few photos of the tree in order to provide a solid recommendation/advice.  Can you attach a few to this question?
Hi Terry, I realized after I sent my first message that I should have included pictures. So I filled out the question form and sent it again with photos.  Thanks for your quick response!  I hope the pictures are helpful in determining the problem.

Maria,

I do not see any pictures that you sent. Make sure that they are smaller than 8mb and if you could attach them to this email response, then i should be able to get them.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but thank you for contacting Ask extension!

Hi Maria,

Thank you for contacting Ask Extension. Your spruce, not a pine, has nothing wrong. If you feel the new growth, it is very soft. This is normal and will harden up as the new growth ages, probably in a few weeks. Your spruce looks great. Just keep supplementing water during this heat wave if it does not rain. Make sure that it gets 1" of water/week to continue looking great. Good Luck!
