Good morning!

That is an AMAZING space to grow perennials. There are so many great choices for perennials in the front range!

Plant Select is one of my favorites to recommend. These are plants that have been tested throughout Colorado to be drought tolerant and hardy in our climate. Their website has an amazing search tool (find a plant advanced) so you can look specifically for sun loving perennials and even be as specific as the bloom time and color you are looking for. At the Jefferson County Fairgrounds we have a Plant Select Demonstration garden that you can visit to see some examples of these plants!

Here is another list that CSU Extension has put together of some herbaceous perennials.

Some of my favorite perennials are below!

Baptisia - these have an amazing array flower colors. They are an early spring blooming flower and then have black seed pods in the late summer/fall.

Coreopsis - there are so many different foliage and flower colors of coreopsis! They will bloom all summer and do not need to be deadheaded in order to continue to bloom.

Liatris/Gayfeather - this is another one of my favorites. They have deep roots and a tall spike flower that almost looks fuzzy! Very drought tolerant once established.

Thanks for reaching out!

Rachel
